Why is your toilet making noise?

  • 2022-01-20 11:44:54

Hearing strange noises when flushing the toilet can be disturbing, especially if you don't know what's causing them. Even more annoying was hearing random noises from the toilet at night while sleeping.

Here are some common noises you might hear and what might cause them.

Your toilet flushes itself

When your toilet flushes itself, it's often called a "ghost flush." It is usually related to a bad flapper in the cistern, which means that the water in the cistern is slowly leaking. When the water reaches a certain level, the water appears and appears to flush itself.

What a grunting sound might indicate

The grunting sound is more difficult to pin down because it can be associated with a few different things. It can be traced to sewer drainage problems, clogged toilets, or other blockages.

You will hear the toilet dripping

If your toilet is dripping, you can check the water on the floor for an external leak. If you don't see water on the floor, the toilet is leaking from somewhere inside, most likely the flapper.

The toilet won't stop running

After flushing the toilet, it should make a running noise for about 30 seconds or so as the water in the cistern runs down to refill the toilet. If it keeps running then there is most likely some kind of leak between the cistern and the bowl.

Oceanwell concealed cistern is an option to reduce flushing noise.
