This is achieved by designing the nozzle at an angle that directs any rebound toward the bottom of the toilet bowl. The nozzle is not directly below you when you are seated. Instead, it is behind you and sprays water at a forward and upward angle.

The spray stream from the nozzle is focused on the "bull's eye" for excellent cleaning results while reducing the chance of solids splashing around the toilet bowl. The amount of water sprayed out is not as large as that from a fire hose. What emerges from the nozzle is a direct, focused stream of water that cleans you effectively before falling into the water below without creating a mess.
