Best Position to Sit on the Toilet

  • 2022-03-02 09:38:39

Many of us probably don't even think about how we sit when we go to the toilet. You sit down, do your thing, and leave. However, if you have difficulty pooing, it may depend on how you position yourself. Sitting toilets were used in Europe in the 19th century and were made with a base. Just sitting on the toilet regularly can lead to lower abdominal problems - constipation, hemorrhoids, colon problems, urinary tract infections and pelvic floor problems. By squatting on the toilet, you can help your body reduce the risk of these health problems.

Why squat?

Using a toilet stool (also known as a squat pan) removes tension and mimics a squat position for a smoother release. This will also ensure that your knees are higher than your hips, which aligns your bowels for easier pooing. Resting your hands or elbows on your thighs/knees will make you feel comfortable and relaxed, which is exactly what you want when you go to the toilet. You should lean forward at a 35-degree angle, not upright at a 90-degree angle. This is because when you go to the toilet, your puborectalis muscle relaxes and the angle of the rectum widens. The puborectalis muscle is a band that surrounds the lower rectum. Leaning forward widens the angle of the rectum so that the stool can move straighter and more easily.

Always remember: wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, especially after you poop! This will help stop the spread of bacteria.
